Our Classes

Babies Class     Generations Class      Canta y Baila Conmigo

REGISTRATION for our FALL 2017 session is OPEN! We hope you'll begin or continue marking your child's musical milestones with us in our Babies, Mixed Ages and Canta y Baila Conmigo classes!

And there's still some summer fun to be had! Registration is ongoing and we pro-rate for late starts.  ***New this summer - an additional make-up class! If you KNOW you will miss one or two weeks of class or if you end up missing a class or two during the session, you may register for a makeup during one of our regular classes OR register for our extra-make-up class on August 26th. Make-ups are only available to families registered for the summer session and can be scheduled online via our Make-up Scheduler.***

Weekly 45-minute classes* include songs, rhythmic rhymes, movement, and instrument play. These activities are presented as informal, non-performance-oriented musical experiences - developmentally appropriate for children and easy for parents and caregivers... regardless of their own musical ability.  Enrolled families receive a beautifully illustrated songbook, two CDs and access to the new Family Music Zone online portal (so you may download the songs for the session - for Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer sessions; receive a printed lyrics booklet for our Seasonal Sing)!

Links for registration for Medford and Billerica are below.

For Lincoln, please contact the Lincoln Parks & Recreation Dept by calling 781-259-0784 or register via their website...

Mixed Age Class

Music Together believes children learn best in a community environment with adults enthusiastically modeling interest and joy in music.  From infants in arms to 5-year-old movers and shakers, we embrace the learning children offer each other.

In class, infants may coo, gurgle, and flex their torsos in response to music.  Toddlers shake rattles, bounce to the beat, and sing occasional notes.  Three-year-olds often have favorite songs and instruments to play and can lose themselves in music. Four- and five-year-olds like to have an effect on the activity - creating ways to move or inventing new words to songs.  They may play teacher and lead the family in their favorite activities at home.

Generations

These classes - at The Commons in Lincoln - offer families the same basic experience as the "mixed age" classes... and we are pleased to welcome senior aged residents to peek in, observe and participate in our mixed age classes on site.  Our "Grandfriends" add to the joy of family music making that is the hallmark of Music Together classes.

Babies Class

The Music Together Babies class is for families with infants from birth through about one-year+ and is a one-semester introduction to Music Together and to early childhood music development. After this one semester, your family may enroll in a mixed-age class.

The music activities in a Babies class are specifically designed to teach parents how to support music development in infancy and how to connect with their infants through music, using concepts like “purposeful touch,” “sound layering,” and “dancing for baby.” You will meet other parents of newborns and learn some fascinating musical activities that you can recreate with your baby at home.

Many parents who have taken the Music Together Babies class tell us how important this community was for them as they navigated new parenting or new parent of two waters.  Families who meet in Babies remain friends for years.
